Humanistiske Europas Synlige Undergang

VI har aldrig været koldere! (Ukraine eller ej!)

Sammen opfordrer vi europæiske ledere til at tage ansvar nu. Branden i Moria-lejren på den græske ø Lesvos var en katastrofe, der var set komme. Den største flygtningelejr i Europa er gået op i flammer og nu svigtes over 12.000 mennesker uden husly midt i en global pandemi. De europæiske migrationspolitikker, der lader folk leve under umenneskelige forhold på de græske øer, skal afsluttes.

Moria-lejren var mere end en overfyldt og usikker lejr. Den var et symbol på, hvordan Europa behandler mennesker på flugt. I årevis har vi været vidne til den skadelige indvirkning europæiske politikker har på folks liv: forfærdelige forhold i overfyldte lejre på øerne, adskillige dødsfald til søs, vold og afvisninger ved Europas grænser.

Den Europæiske Union er ved et kritisk vendepunkt og vil snart fremvise en ‘ny begyndelse’ på migrationpolitikken (i form af en ny migrations- og asylpagt). Hele verden var vidne til branden i Moria: Europæiske ledere og den Europæiske-Kommission må indse, at nok er nok. De, der har magten til at træffe beslutninger har i de næste dage, uger og måneder, har et historisk ansvar.

Hjælp os med et opråb til Europas ledere og den Europæiske Kommission.

De skal straks:

  • Evakuere alle mennesker, der måtte flygte fra Moria-lejren, sikre grundlæggende menneskerettigheder som husly, mad, sanitetsfaciliteter og sundhedspleje. Disse menneskerettigheder kan ikke opretholdes på Lesvos eller de andre græske øer. Flyt hurtigst muligt indsatsen fra øerne og fokuser på flytning til resten af Europa.
  • Forlade enhver fremtidig politik om migration, der igen vil fange folk under umenneskelige forhold i lejre på øer (eller centre ved grænserne) i venten på en afgørelse om deres asylansøgning. Politikken med at begrænse asylansøgeres bevægelse fra øerne til Grækenlands fastland skal afsluttes.
  • Implementere migrationspolitikker, der sikrer beskyttelse i modsætning til eksklusion. Dette fordrer øget solidaritet og ansvarsdeling mellem europæiske lande og en afslutning på den systematiske krænkelse af menneskerettighederne ved grænserne.

Behovet for handling har aldrig været mere presserende.
